In contrary to the Netherlands where you have to buy your plastic bags in shops and stores, here in Singapore you get a plastic bag for almost anything free of charge. To give you an indication, when I shop at Fairprice I get 2 bags (together so they can hold heavier things) for my water bottles, 1 bag for all delicate stuff (chips and crackers), 1 bag for my bread (can you imagine that maybe your bread is somewhat out of shape?, what would that be a shame, uneatable!) and one bag for the bread spreads. Can you imagine the collection I have in my room?!
On the other hand, if you buy something takeaway, you also get a plastic bag to put you plastic food holder in. And the most non-useful bag I have encountered is the bags you get for carrying your hot and cold drinks from point A to point B. And of course the cup is also from plastic!
It is a good thing they actively promote recycling!

ReplyDeleteTja, ze zouden hun eco-awareness ook kunnen beginnen bij de hoeveelheid van verbruiken..
Hoe zit het daar trouwens met biologisch en fairtrade goederen, is dat een beetje te krijgen? Of bijvoorbeeld andere of zogenaamde duurzame initiatieven?
xx!
