Today was our visit of the Beijing Zoo. This was done today, because it was a rainy day and it was the one thing on our itinerary which contained sheltered places.
Beijing Zoo

Lion |
Beijing Zoo is located in the western part of Beijing, and is home to all sorts of animals. It is quite a vast area and can also be considered a park with some additional cages and animals. In addition to the "ordinary" zoo, the Beijing Aquarium and the Panda House are also located in the zoo. And although the Panda House is a mere 5Y in addition to the park entrance, the aquarium asks a shockingly 150Y.
You can find all sorts of animals in the zoo, but I think the major attractions are the cat-like animals (tigers, lions, etc.) and the bears. Almost every animal has a inside and outside cage, though the houses look a bit dated.

Giant Panda |
The most special part, for me that it, is the panda house. It contains three parts. An older part, or so it seems, an outside part, and a part which is built during the Olympic Games. The two houses contain Giant Pandas, a total of about 7. The outside part has the nephew of the Giant Panda, i.e. the Red Panda also known as the Firefox. Due tot he rain fall we could not make a photo of the Red Panda, but the Giant Pandas were quite photogenic.
