Tanzhe Temple and Zongshan Park

Today it was our intention to visit two temples in the western part of Beijing, called Tanzhe and Jietai. Unfortunately, at the moment of writing this, Jietai Temple is no longer accessible by means of public transportation. Therefore, Zongshan Park was visited.

Tanzhe Temple

Overview of Tanzhe Temple
Tanzhe Temple is a temple in the western hills of Beijing. Actually, it is not even Beijing anymore but who cares. You can get there by travelling to the far west with subway line 1, to Pingguoyuan and transfer to bus 931. The last stop is Tanzhe.

Tanzhe comprises several halls and beautiful golden statues. As always, a lot of incense is burned outside the temple. As it is located in the hills, the temple is located on several terraces which gives a nice view of the temple. It is nice to stroll about, though you cannot spend several hours here. I think one and a half hour is enough to see everything. One of the attractive points as a tourist is that taking photos is several halls, though not all, is allowed.

Zongshan Park

Rock-themed garden view
Zongshan park is a park located west of the Forbidden City, has some great views on The Forbidden City. In additional, it has a nice rock-themed garden and long-corridor. The entrance fee is only 3Y and almost no tourists can be found; if you want to spend the last couple of hours of a day in peace, this is your place to go!
