In the western part of Beijing, a couple of kilometers more to the west than The Botanical Garden, lay The Fragrant Hills. The hills are not called that way, because they smell; one of the peaks of the mountains looks like a incense burner. The park is really worth visiting, so continue reading.

Tanzhe Temple and Zongshan Park
Today it was our intention to visit two temples in the western part of Beijing, called Tanzhe and Jietai. Unfortunately, at the moment of writing this, Jietai Temple is no longer accessible by means of public transportation. Therefore, Zongshan Park was visited.

The Sacred Way and The Ming Tombs
Today we went to The Sacred Way and the Ming Tombs Area. Only Dingling, one of the thirteen tombs, we have visited. It is possible to visit more tombs, but for us the weather did not allow this. You can read about our visit and how to get there in this post.

Botanical Garden
The Botanical Gardens are situated in the north-west part of Beijing. Between Fragrant Hills and The Summer Palace. It is quite easy to reach by bus, if you be able to get on the bus. It is more a large garden than a botanical garden. All will be become clear if you continue reading.

Old Summer Palace
Today we went to The Old Summer Palace. This site is even larger than The Summer Palace. It contains three different scenic areas and many large lakes and bridges. Summer Palace
The Summer Palace is a large park located in the west of Beijing, about 12 kilometers from the center. It is easily reachable with the subway, although finding the entrance can be a nuance. As an advice, do not take the rickshaws as they will rip you off. It is quite a large park, with a lot of "hilly" roads. You can read more when you click through.

Beijing Zoo
