Jurong Bird Park

Parrots
Today I went to Jurong Bird Park, which was also included in my ticket to the Singapore Zoo and Night Safari. Because this park is also located far far away from where I am situated, I went by train and bus. After 30 minutes or so I reached the park where I could avoid the queue and go on and just enter. Upon entering, the first birds I met were some colorful parrots, which were sitting on a small branch greeting all visitors upon entering. Again in this park most birds were free to roam, or to be precise there were vast cages in which the animals and we, people, could roam. But I will come back to this later.
After the greeting of the parrots I went to the penguins. A lot of different types of penguins were together in a half-water half-land kind of area. A big group of penguins were situated on the land while the rest was swimming through the tank. By the way, these were the cold water penguins. The warm water penguins were situated outside and were enjoying the sun very much. Do you also see any resemblance between the picture below and a specific movie about penguins?!

Next the were a lot of other birds located outside. These birds did not need for any cage or mechanism to keep them in the park. The group of birds included flamingos, pelicans, swans and ducks. But there many more.

As I already mentioned there were also cages or to be precise, defined living areas, as these areas where large. On of the areas consisted of the largest man made continues waterfall of 30 meters in height to be precise. As you can see on the picture attached, the area is quite big and birds are free to fly and can fly great distances. There were several of these areas, one of which consisted of only lories which could be fed if you were willing to spend a couple of dollars on nectar. If you were willing, the birds would sit on your arms and hands to get some of the nectar. But the birds would also sometimes leave a farewell present. One other area consisted of paradise birds and so on and so forth. You can imagine how many birds I have seen on 1 day.
By the way, in this park also a couple of shows are given throughout the day. One which consist of friendly cuddly birds, and one which consist of fierce predator birds. During the last show they could not say enough that everybody had to remain seated and that nobody should move or stretch out his arms to the birds. But well, if in Singapore people say something is forbidden, why don't we try to reach out every time to catch a falcon in mid-air. I must say it was quite dangerous and the lady which gave the show was also a bit, well how to say it nicely, angry that some people did not listen. Maybe such a show is too dangerous to give (for any audience thinkable) but it was quite the spectacle.
