Night Safari

Do not forget to read my post about the Singapore Zoo where I have been earlier that same day.

Night Safari entrance
After leaving the zoo, I went straight to the Night Safari, which is just around the corner. It is possible to buy a combined ticket namely for the three animal parks in Singapore. As the zoo closes at 6 PM and the Night Safari starts at 7:30 PM I had some time to eat and look around the premises of the Night Safari. I had luckily already eaten, because, wow, 13S$ for a burger with, to be precise, 3 potato fries! A tip for any visitor who does not want to spend a lot of money: go for the (although also somewhat more expensive than normal) laksa in the zoo restaurant.

But anyhow, just before the safari would be opened an immense rain shower emerged. Well, no problem, as most rain showers are really short (with a LOT of water). Luckily also the safari trams had a rain cover, so nobody would get wet expect for the animals.
Rain shower
Because the Night Safari is, as the name says, after it becomes dark, I did not got the change to shoot any pictures, but the one of the lighted trail marker. This is because no flash could be used as this would blind the animals.
So as I mentioned and as you could have guessed, parts of the safari could be done by tram and some parts of the safari could be done on foot. It is a bit difficult to describe this magnificent park, as it is truly a wondrous experience.
Let me just explain that inside the tram you can see the animals quite well and some parts are also free roaming so that animals can literary come inside the tram. As for the trails, well the same holds, also these are an extremely magnificent experience. The most intensive experience is were you can enter a piece of mangrove wood (you are walking on some boards above the water) and bats are flying everywhere and are just maneuvering around you such that you can almost feel them.
All in all it was an amazing experience and I would definitely recommend going to the Night Safari if you have the chance of doing so!

  2. Hi Lennart,

Been there, but didn't do that. I was in Singapore in 2006 but decided against the zoo. I did appreciate the small towns within the city quite a bit: the Malay, the Chinese, the Indians... each have their own living quarters which are remarkably different.

I hope that inspite off all this, you're nevertheless able to finish your project. No worries, a Singaporean wouldn't be a Singaporean if they wouldn't have it all covered. If you doubt about the planning, look to the floor before the glass doors to the MRT trams open and look at the arrows guiding passengers to enter and exit in specific ways. Your Singaporean supervisor will have the project planned for you (it might take 20 hour work days, though).

  3. Geweldig! Wel grappig dat je overal dus de mogelijkheid hebt "lekker lam" in trams, kleine scootertjes etc te gaan!
