Road sign |
After arriving on Orchard Road at the far most end of the road I found the first of many Starbucks restaurants. As I did not have any Starbucks coffee until then and I was somewhat craving for it I sad down on the terrace and treated myself a big cup of cappuccino!
After a half hour I plunged myself in the chaos of Orchard Road, by first entering the "wrong" mall; only sex shops and happy ending massages. Creepy, creepy people everywhere. I ran within 10 seconds after entering to the exit of this mall. The next couple of malls I did not even enter, as the brands on the outside denoted the kind of mall inside... Prada, Hermes, Cartier, and so forth.
Well eventually I entered a mall which contained all popular brands you can find in Europe, for twice the price. But I was fun looking how crowded it was and how people could stand in line, queuing for more than 20 minutes, to enter a store. Really! I have attached a photo to show you how crowded it was, just look at how many people are on the escalator. And to make things even worse... most malls are interconnected with each other by tunnels. I have attached a movie of one of the interconnections, please look at the crowd. What I did not film is the fact the crowd was somewhat dosed because of the escalator and the end, where people where almost crushed as to the density of people on it.
Again outside I started counting the number of 7-Eleven stores and restaurants (Starbucks, McDonalds and KFC) I saw, but I lost count. That is why I needed the website to check whether it was that much, or if I just had walked by the same restaurants again and again.
Well of course this part of Singapore's culture is also funny to see and to experience and I must say that I liked the overall experience, but the crowds...
Finally, Starbucks |
Well, speaks for itself |
Also quite self explanatory |
Shopping mall chaos |
Heyy lennie!
liefs,
Marijke
Mijn hotel lag één straat achter Orchard Rd.
Groeten, Gerwin
