Arriving in Prague

Dear all,
Today my first day in Prague. As it was a really early flight, I must confess that I had a bit of a drowsy day. Therefore I apologize in advance for the details I might have missed.

So, we arrived at around 8 o' clock in the morning at Prague Airport. Within a couple of minutes we had been to the toilet, withdrew Czech Koruns, and retrieved our bags. It all went quite fast. Last, we bought tickets for the bus and metro (and tickets for our luggage as this seems to be obliged for large pieces of luggage) and arrived at our apartment 4 hours early.
What is one to do if one arrives too early at ones apartment? Yes, walk about with too heavy a backpack in the city. First off, the Charles Bridge. One of the melting pots of the tourists of Prague. Although the bridge is quite nice from a touristic point of view, the amount of people, artists, and merchants can make your experience feel somewhat less authentic; do I really like it or am I just following the crowd?!

After the Charles Bridge, a small coffee break at the McCafé. Nice cheesecake, by the way. Really complements the cappuccino.
Leaving the McDonalds, we went to a somewhat less crowded part of the city. Near the Kafka museum. It is a small little park, quite unknown to tourist. We came to know of it by means of a YouTube video of KLM. It is called Vojan Park (Vojanovy Sady), and although it is not that big it is an oasis of tranquility.

3 and a half hours later, we could finally enter our apartment... through the kebab shop. And that is not a metaphor. Three extra keys are supplied to be able to open the kebab shop to enter or leave the apartment after closing time. :s

After we unpacked and took a small break, we went out for diner. We found a small restaurant on the west bank of Prague. Although the food was nice, I must say that the food is more expensive than I thought. I always had some kind of vision about the cheapness of Prague, but nothing of that is true. Except for the beer, which is cheaper than water.

Last activity of the day was another small park, called Wallenstein Park. This park was also quite nice, although somewhat more crowded. All in all a nice experience.
Conclusion, a tiring first day but feeling very fulfilled.
