Petřín and a small preview of the Castle Complex

Day 2 in Prague. Today the forecast promised a sunny 23 degrees Celsius. A nice day for a stroll.

Today we went to Petřín, which is a 300 meter high hill in Prague. On this hill top there is a observation deck, a mirror maze, and a monastery. It takes about an hour to reach the top of the hill. Although there is an option to reach the top with a funicular, we chose the longer and cheaper way up. Finally reaching the top, we went to the rose garden, whereafter we entered the touristical part of the hill, where the maze and observation deck is located.

I think both attractions are nice and it is nice to know these old attractions survived, but you really get the feeling that these attractions are nowadays only used for the sake of earning money. I mean, the attraction were once built for an expedition (maybe something which can be compared to the world expo?!) but the charm is somewhat lost.

Walking down the hill, we found a restaurant, part of a hotel, conveniently located at a panorama location. The staff was very friendly! The girl even helped me with the pronunciation of the sentence "Thank you"... Děkuji.

From the restaurant, it was only a 5 minute walk to the presidential palace and the Vitus Cathedral. The area, packed with small alleys, is something which could easily be found in a theme park. We decided not to enter the attractions today, but to postpone it until Wednesday. A ticket for the multiple sights on the hill is valid for 2 days. And according to the list, 7 attractions is a bit too much to do in one day.

For dinner, we decided to go to the Italian restaurant which is located on a boat. It is called Marina Grosseto. The meals are of good quality and the staff was very friendly and helpful. You would expect it to be a tourist trap, but it isn't.
We finished the day by making some pictures in the night of Prague.
